To create your own Alexa skill you will need to login to the Amazon skills developer page, you may also be prompted to register as a developer. This is without charge and you can skip over any signing up to AWS. The start page relating to this tutorial can be found here.
If you would prefer to copy-n-paste text to avoid any file download then you will need to click anywhere inside the skills JSON panel and press CTRL+A to highlight all existing JSON code. Then press the delete key to clear it all. Next click into the panel below and right-click copy, then click into the skills JSON panel and right click paste.
After pasting the JSON file, if you look toward the top of the panel code you will see 'Listen up' this is the default invocation words to wake this skill. You change these for whatever words you like provided that they are not Amazon 'Reserved' system words, like 'Open', 'Run', 'Ask', 'Launch' etc. You should also use words from your own language too. You can always change these later and re-build the skill.
If you get a response of 'Welcome to the speech configurator' you have now completed the build of your skill. The skill now needs to have whatever commands you wish to use, uploaded into your personal data-slot. The data-slot requires a special update 'Key' which your new skill will generate for you. Follow instructions from the data_uploads page to do this and to start using some amazing command features.
